It is so often a rarity to be in the company of fellow creatives who live and also work together as a couple; Where ones’ creative talents and interests seamlessly intermingle and often compliment the other. Where the language of design itself becomes closely and inherently fluent, often interplaying with daily life… David and Jenny are just that couple. Both, intelligent and kind, with a wonderful ability to offer warmth and comfortability to all who have pleasure of knowing them, and surely, working with them.
We have been especially excited to visit their newly opened studio, located in historic Gastown. Their talents, evident throughout all that they touch—and their new workplace is no exception. With its incredible base (beautifully preserved) providing endless character and charm—particularly with the oversized, arched, central window overlooking the bustling streets and elegantly and boldly framing moldingwork, it is a delight.
There are telltale signs of the couples’ widespread interests and talents—be it in the ceramic works, artwork hanging, stationary details and paper goods. One of our personal favorite details teeters between the enthusiastic plant that seems to be a bit of a focal point in and of itself and the incredibly adorable pup, Aubergine.
Though still considerably young as a practice, David and Jenny have over ten years of experience, each, and a strong, growing portfolio. Their focus? Simply put, on the “design and project development of built works through thoughtful consideration of architectural massing and interior experience.” Thoughtful is an understatement, and we are smitten with all that these two touch.
